Things turned quite chilly overnight in Charlotte, NC! When I arose this morning it was only 24! Sadly, when taking my dog for his morning walk I noticed many leaves have fallen and there are far fewer trees cloaked in beautiful reds and golds.
It’s a good morning to tell you about the cozy comfort food Fern is offering for Thanksgiving.
Fern, Flavors from the Garden (for those readers who may not know) is Charlotte’s most elegant vegetarian / vegan restaurant. Fern has been leaning steadily ever more vegan over the years, and I’m delighted to report that Fern’s Thanksgiving preorder menu is 100% vegan.
Fern has been known in the past to go the more exotic route, but this year’s menu is Fern’s elegant take on classic comfort foods.
The main entree is Shepherd’s Pie – stewed lentils, mushrooms, field peas, and corn, topped with mashed potatoes and served with Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Green Bean Casserole – $18.95 per person. (This plate would be perfect to take with you if you are going to a Thanksgiving dinner where you will be the only vegan. Or if you are an omnivore hosting Thanksgiving dinner and need something to serve that one vegan or vegetarian.)
You can also order a large Carrot Cake or small Pecan Pie and loaves of Pumpernickel Bread or Cornbread with Vegan Sweet Butter.
Fern is currently taking preorders. Last day to order is Friday, November 21st. Orders can be picked up Tuesday (November 25) and Wednesday (November 26) between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
